First, let me make one thing clear: I have no particular spiritual or psychic abilities.

At MEG KNITTING, we have been offering sock repairs since the very beginning. Being made of 100% wool, our socks are susceptible to friction and wear, while the upper part (the leg) tends to hold up much better. So the idea is simple: by repairing them as needed, we can help you enjoy your favorite socks for as long as possible.

But that’s not what I want to talk about today. I want to talk about the socks that are sent to us for repair.

For those who work with their hands and come into physical contact with other people, this may be a familiar experience in one way or another.

Every now and then, I sense something vaguely dark (even sinister, perhaps?) in socks that have been worn for a long time. We ask our customers to wash their socks before sending them in, but even so, there are times when a pair arrives carrying a certain unpleasant presence.

When that happens, I simply repair the socks right away, and somehow, that strange atmosphere disappears. It’s quite mysterious.

In Japan, there has long been a belief that even objects can possess a soul. Perhaps taking good care of the things we own can also help keep us, their owners, healthy and well.

最初に断っておくが、私には霊感の類は無い。

MEG KNITTINGでは初期から靴下のお直しを承っている。

ウール100%であるが故に摩擦に弱い、しかし上の方（脚）は傷みにくいので、

それならばお直しをしながらお気に入りの靴下を長く履いていただこう、というのが意図である。

今日はそんな話ではなく、お直しで送っていただく靴下のこと。

ひとの身体に触れる方たちにはある意味よくある話だろう。

長く履いていただいた靴下にもなんとなく黒い邪悪(？）なものを時々感じることがある。

お客様にはお洗濯して送ってもらうようにしているのだが、それでもなんとなく

嫌な気配が漂っている靴下に出会うことがある。

その時はすぐにお直ししてあげると、なぜかその空気感が消える。とても不思議。

ものにも魂が宿ると日本では昔から言い伝えられている。

ものを大事にしてあげることは持ち主すらも健やかにしてくれるのかもしれない。
